STUDENT GRADE ASSIGNMENT

The Leverett School Committee recognizes that each child develops socially, emotionally, and intellectually at a rate unique to that child, and that each child must be afforded the opportunity to progress successfully through the school community in a manner that meets their individual needs.

Students will typically progress annually from grade to grade. Exceptions in the form of grade assignment may be made when, in the judgment of the professional staff, such exceptions are in the best educational interest of the child.

Grade assignment will only be made after prior notification and explanation to the child’s parents/guardians, as their support is crucial to the successful implementation of this course of action. The final decision regarding grade assignment, however, will rest with the building principal.
