LEVERETT SCHOOL COMMITTEE

MISSION STATEMENT

We strive to help all children in our school develop the skills and personal attributes needed to become confident, compassionate citizens of the world. Our hope is that they will develop into lifelong learners who immerse themselves fully in our multiethnic, multicultural, pluralistic society. In our school, all students are treated equally; we are fully-committed to ensuring that adults and children not only treat one another with respect, but appreciate and celebrate different beliefs, learning styles, and points of view.

To achieve this mission, the School Committee endorses the following as the broad educational goals of our school:

  1. Establish, implement and continuously evaluate the efficiency of policies and procedures, particularly as they relate to student achievement and equity, and to communicate these goals and objectives effectively to the community.
  2. Develop and implement an up-to date, innovative, multicultural, and academically challenging curriculum that promotes high levels of achievement, supports the diverse abilities of all students and aligns with the state Frameworks.
  3. Identify, attract and recruit qualified personnel from diverse backgrounds. Create an environment that is supportive and promotes professional growth, so that they can be effective personnel who successfully help all students feel welcome in our school and be successful learners.
  4. Provide quality programs that are comprehensive, accessible, engaging and rigorous for all students regardless of their learning needs.
  5. Create a budget process that is participatory, well-documented and transparent. Create a budget that ensures a quality educational program for all students.
  6. Maintain two-way communication with citizens of the community. The public will be kept informed of the progress and problems of the school system, and citizens will be urged to bring their aspirations and feelings about their public school to the attention of this body, which they have chosen to represent them in the management of public education.
  7. Equip and maintain school buildings to provide healthy, accessible, modern learning environments that support the achievement of our mission.
